Slash's Snakepit - Neither Can I (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WXqq97DCdQ#ws)
-
Hey guys.
Rob, I loved the Slash's Snakepit song man and give you 8.5 rubber chickens out of 10!
I used this stuff below somewhere else once and thought this looks as good place as any to post it again....my taste in music is extremely diverse and I can appreciate almost any music (I said almost Mr Beiber), but for me there will always be Pink Floyd and then everybody else.
Pink Floyd came about in the 1960s when a group of students named Syd Barret, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright got together. Syd left soon after to join a different type of group - a mental institution and died in 2006 wearing a dress and not knowing his own name! Drugs! David Gilmour took his place and became one of the world's greatest guitarists and is still ranked at No.14 according to Rolling Stone Music. He is also widely recognised as one of the world's premier slide guitarists as well.
Roger Waters himself was the song writing lyrical genius and bass guitarist who made Pink Floyd what it is. I have seen him in concert twice in Australia.
Richard Wright fast became recognised as being well ahead of his time in regards to the synthesized keyboards sounds he was creating...keeping in mind this was now only the 70s. He is in the top 10 of almost any 'greatest rock keyboardist' website you care to Google.
In 1973 the album Dark Side of the Moon was launched and went on to become the 3rd best-selling album in history. 'The album is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for being on the charts longer than any other album in history, namely 591 consecutive weeks or 11.4 years in Billboard top 200! A total of approx 14 whole years (741 weeks) in and back in top 200, and a staggering 26 years in some Billboard chart or other'.
The band spilt and had not performed a concert together since 1981 and the clip I have below was the first time in 24 years (2005) that all four members of the band had played together. Sadly it was also close to the last as keyboardist Richard Wright died from cancer shortly after in 2008.
Keep in mind the musicians in the clip were around 62 when it was shot and are close enough to 70 now. I often wonder what they could have been without a 24 year break. Man I love these guys!

Aunt Selma,
I am at a loss for words. All I can say is that we are the same. Pink Floyd created by far the greatest sounds ever to grace the ears of this earth, and have obviously stood the test of time (and will only continue to do so). Some of the older members here already know of my obsession with Pink Floyd, and I was actually notified of your post by Rob because he knows my love for The Floyd lol.
Also I too have seen Roger Waters twice (once for DSOTM and once for The Wall).
I was incredibly excited when I saw that you decided to join us here at the FH, but that initial excitement doesn't compare to what it has now become after reading your post.
Live long and Shine On,

Hopefully this gets the thread going again;

Rob. First class effort mate! I don't know the song to be honest but I do now; thanks for sharing. 7/10.
Now on to important business....I see our latest recruit Silent G3 has an image from Pink Floyd's album 'The Division Bell' as his avatar. Clearly the gentleman deserves a promotion because of this like yesterday!
I love all music new and old alike and this one most of you probably don't know....(promise I will post something more modern next time).
I first heard of Graham Bonnet in the mid 1970's (showing my age now!) when he had a hit in Australia called 'Warm Ride'. He then covered the Bob Dylan written 'It's All Over Now baby Blue'. I knew the guy could sing after that....man that is a strong voice.
He was asked by the legendary Ritchie Blackmore to replace the equally legendary late Ronnie James Dio in the band Rainbow sometime in the late 1970's. This clip is Graham Bonnet singing 'All Night Long' with Rainbow from 1979! Pretty sure he was only with Rainbow for a couple of years.
Rainbow was made up of - Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple), Ronnie James Dio (Elf and later replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath), Roger Glover (Deep Purple), Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow) plus a heap of others.
Hard to get a decent vid from 35 years back but here goes....

This seems like such a 90's song to me, I don't know why. I can't believe it came out in 2007. Anyway, like everyone else seems to be saying, not really my style. I care more about the beats than the lyrics and the beat isn't that great in my opinion. Still a solid song though, I will put it in the books. 7/10.
For those interested in jazz, here is one of my favorite artists BADBADNOTGOOD playing with the rapper Tyler, the Creator on piano. Its not my favorite track by BBNG, but its probably the most friendly to newcomers. Great song either way. Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite songs growing up:
The Beach Boys - Still Surfin' - 1992 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRuhY1r5GpQ#)
-
Rob,
I love that song. But then again, I love every song the Beach Boys made. Back in 1976 when I lived in Kansas, me and my friend got to talk with Carl Wilson for about 20 mins. A real down to earth guy. A friend of ours got us in early and Carl was sitting on the edge of the stage, and we just wandered up and said hi, and we just talked music and things like that. What a great voice he had. Shame he died way to early as did Dennis, but it is good to see Brian once again singing and touring with the band

Netsky is one of my all time favorite music producers. And most favorite Drum n' Bass artist. Literally every one of his songs speaks to my soul in some way. It moves me unlike anything else.

I love this version of Sound of Silence. If you don't know Disturbed, you have to watch it right through to get the full impact.....(says me anyway lol).
Something I found on the topic.... "Paul Simon has heard Disturbedâs cover of his Simon & Garfunkel classic âThe Sound of Silenceâ â and he enjoyed it enough to reach out to singer David Draiman and tell him so."
Draiman shared word of his interaction with Simon after the band delivered a performance of âThe Sound of Silenceâ during its March 28 appearance on Conan. Simon saw the show and sent Draiman an email shortly after, saying, âReally powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time Iâd seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks.â Understandably enthused by Simonâs encouragement, Draiman posted a screenshot of the email on the bandâs Facebook page, as well as his response.
âMr. Simon, I am honored beyond words,â wrote Draiman. âWe only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/ us and we are eternally grateful.â

Aunt Selma, Never heard that version, I must say I was impressed and moved by it too.
I have always been a fan of Simon & Garfunkel music. We don't seemed to get the quality of music and entertainers like we did during those years. At least in my opinion.
Here is a singer that is one of my favorite, If you ever had the chance to see one of his concerts , I am sure you will agree. His concerts or shows were always sold out weeks in advance in the southern California area even after 45 years.
Thanks for sharing Guys.
NEIL DIAMOND...
