As I'm sure many of you are aware, Activision announced yesterday this years next CoD title. Of more interest to us, there is a remastered version of CoD4 included with the game.
Some comparisons between the original and the new are shown in this video:

Doubtful.
They always announce dedicated servers, but never deliver.
Dont preorder, EVER. Its a scam.

Activision has played coy with marketing for a long time now, the wording I was looking for was "rentable dedicated servers". The dev team would only need to make minimal changes to stay within the parameters that we would want, it would be more work for them to limit hosting to their own hardware, but I definitely wouldn't put it past them.
Definitely agree with Godlike about not falling for the preorder.

It would be interesting to see how well a new dedicated server system would populate. If they do follow through and FH were to have a dedicated COD4 remastered server, a) I wonder what effect it would have on the population on our current FFA server; and B) would we be able to generate enough of a following on the new server to see the same kind of success we've had at present time.
Do you think they would have all the same maps as COD4?
I know this is giant speculation and getting the cart before the horse. :Dogwalk:

Im happy to stay on the old COD if there are concerns about everyone migrating - hellz I don't think my PC would cope with the new one. Wonder what graphics and RAM would be required

i get the feeling if it comes as a package deal the they will be running their own servers.
ok the missus is going to kill me lol Doom a new compound bow and now new cod cmn out ....

--just a quick update--
they have fixed the few little bugs with Remastered, the game plays really good, there is no sign of standalone servers and they are still using the lobby system which can at time be a pain in the ass. in general its a fun game... Promod has been requested but as of yet nothing has been said :( the private server feature is pretty cool and its used quite a bit.

MWR has no modtools then its not possible faor anonimous like us to do a promod ... for now only game devlopper (activiision) can change the game

I don't think it's worth the cash. Visuals are good (besides crossfire...yuck), and the updated sounds are nice, but ultimately it's just a copy of an already good game. They said the movement would be the same, but they capped the fps at 90, disincentivizing a lot of the promod players. They also took out a lot of fun map interactions that the original had, like lean vision and bounces (yes I know there are some small ones but they took out the good ones). A lot of players think it would be better if they added a promod to the remastered version, but what would set it apart from the original promod? I don't see a point in spending money transitioning to a mediocre copy of a great game. Any other thoughts on the game?

must keep in mind it was pack into a bundle with IW which is no kidding a slap in the face joke to call of duty ( pure rubbish ) if they had done a standalone release of cod4 it could have been much better. the fps 90 cap is frustrating to say the least , and like above they have also missed out on a a huge section of the cod4 community ( promod side ) by not having it with the Remaster. all we can do is hope that sometime in the future they will see this and jump at it ....

I've often wondered why they don't just release new maps. What they should do is release a dozen new maps and sell them to us.

Nobody is ever online to play this anymore. i hope the new cod ww2 lives up to the hype.
