Title: killing of spawns in CrossFire
Post by: R[NF]DarkFriar on October 24, 2016, 03:25:16 pm
This has been discussed before, but it seems that no call is being made. The place I am talking about is on the last street with a three-story building at the
end of the street with the front blown off. As you go down the street on the left-hand side is a driveway that goes up to a blown out section of wall. The spawns happen behind a small section of the wall and only have one direction to escape. This puts them in the opening of the blown out wall, and players across the street from this section can easily pick off the spawns before they get across. Would like a ruling by upper admins please.

Hi Dark,

If a player is sat in the building opposite the broken wall spawn and is just killing people over and over again from that spawn, then that is spawn camping and it isn't allowed. If a player happens to walk past the broken wall spawn and kill someone, then that's fine, as long as they're not continually doing it which then means they're spawn roving.

I understand I'm new to the clan and my opinion may not be valued as much as other members who have been here longer, however I have been playing this game for 8 Years and my knowledge of the rules are pretty good.

Cheers mate!  :beer1111111:

That area and the other end of the map are very similar.  Both those areas are hard to escape without being picked off due to the number of spawns and the minimal cover area and limited number of escape routes.  Often times players will get stuck trying to escape and it's kill or be killed with those spawns.

As far as enforcing a spawn camp rule, it would require an admin with reasonable understanding of the game and the situation in those tricky spots, to spectate the player over a period of time to see if the intent appears to be spawn camping (hunkering down and waiting to get multiple kills) or is the player just trying to survive and escape?  Moving carefully and cautiously in those areas does not equate to spawn camping.  So a quick judgement is not always possible.

Remember, we are going to error on the side of leniency as opposed to a heavy handed judgement.  When Crossfire or any of our maps have a high volume of players (17-21 in game) it makes it very difficult.

It is an imperfect game and the only way to admin such a situation is to monitor intent through spectating.  It requires an admin that understands the situation, is not doing it because they are mad at being killed too many times in spawn, and can objectively spectate a player to see if it is a pattern that shows intent to spawn camp.

Sorry for the long answer but it is the best I can do to try to explain the needed mindset of our admin and how to deal with these types of concerns.
