At first I was told no clays on spawns, then I was told no placement of clays on exits, any exits. What is the rule?

Hello Slarti. as long as you don't clay all exits of a spawn you are OK.

You can not place clays directly on to spawn points or facing towards a spawn point at close range, depending on how many exits there are from a spawn point will determine weather you can clay the exit point or not. if the spawn point has only one way to exit you can not clay that exit as it would be the sole exit to the spawn not giving the spawning player a chance to leave their spawn to move around the map. If there are 2 exits from a spawn point it is ok to clay one exit but not clay both as then the player spawning would no longer have a viable exit if they were both covered but if only one is covered with a clay they still have another exit from the spawn to proceed around the map so claying one of many exits to a sole spawn point is ok. essentially you can not trap players in their spawn points with claymores by blocking the only path of exit from their spawn. I hope I have clarified this enough for you with said post.

Back to the matter at hand......Slarti do you require further explanation of the rule? Today in the server you placed a claymore on the lower level of the three story building - on the doorway which leads out to the fence (not the chopper) but facing in. Not aware of 2nd spawn on the bottom floor, CRASH MAP, only spawn in separate room. Please advise location of second spawn. I have never spawned in that first floor except in the room.
Otherwise, I like the logic of spawn placement set out by NIGHTCAP AND zMAN, above. Makes perfect sense and that is the logic that I have been using. Of course, if I am not aware of a spawn, such as you are describing, then I am at fault.

My personal opinion worth nothing is spawn points should not be clayed period, WHY, give the person a chance to move without being killed once he/she has moved out game on, I have NEVER clayed a spawn, just against the ethics I hold which are God like lol Bad joke sorry God

My understanding is that downstairs room should be out of bounds for clays

As far as I'm aware, any spawns and any exits from spawns that you are trapping. If they can leave the spawn with out getting clayed that's fine If you've trapped them in their spawn with a clay that is not. Correct me if I am wrong.
