Title: New SSD
Post by: {FH}Harlequin on September 04, 2022, 01:54:39 am
Hey guys, I just upgraded my comp and got a new SSD and when I reinstalled COD4 I got the usual issue where it crashes when you try to load multiplayer, I tried the usual issue with DirectX but my sound settings dont show anything as disabled and most other fixes I've found online dont seem to be working either, wondering if anyone has suggestions? I also can't seem to find my COD file under shared files? Any help is appreciated!

What exactly did you try involving DirectX?

The usual issue that I think of is the microphone detection crash, which you can mitigate by enabling 'Stereo Mix' in the 'Control Panel -> Sound -> Record' menu, or by plugging in a microphone

the stereo mix doesn't show up  when I open up control panel, all I have is speakers, headphones, digital audio, mic, and line in. all are enable and 'show disabled devices is selected

You need to plug in a microphone before you launch the game, unfortunately in my experience with my other pc it needs a mic plugged in every time the game is launched or it just crashes. anything with a microphone should work as in a standalone mic or a headset with a mic, I for example use a USB headset with a microphone and that works.
