Title: Getting DDoS'd
Post by: Uncle on November 25, 2016, 12:23:52 am
I joined the Forgotten Heroes FFA server (64.94.101.157:28960) early afternoon on November 23rd. Played for a bit, killed some folks, and then 'abruptly' my internet cut out. I say 'abruptly', because beforehand someone by the name of |FH|Jock Ych typed into chat "!alias 16", and not a few seconds later my internet shut off.
I thought "Huh, that's a weird coincidence." and just waited for my internet to come back on before joining another server. No big deal.

Today (November 24th), I joined the same server, played for a bit, killed some folks, and it didn't take long before I saw in chat from |FH|Jock Ych "!alias 16". This time though, it was followed by a random player saying "XD LATA!" and |FH|Jock Ych saying "Right again. ;)", then my internet cutting in and out repeatedly for roughly 20 minutes.

So my line of thought is that |FH|Jock Ych, who is an admin, is DDoS'ing me. It's happened twice following the same command written by the same guy in the same server, and the second time before it happened it's like this random player knew what was going to happen before it did, and |FH|Jock Ych subtly hinted that they weren't wrong.

Even as I'm typing this out, my internet is still cutting in and out at regular intervals for regular periods of time, which leads me to believe it's not just my ISP or my router being crappy. There's sufficient evidence for me to suspect the |FH|Jock Ych is DDoS'ing me, albeit with a free/low quality booter given the short periods of time that my internet is being hit offline.

Edit: And I only now bothered looking at the staff list to discover he's actually the LEADER of this clan. Well, co-leader.
So seeing as ousting him for DDoS'ing folks probably won't do anything, I'm going to issue him a challenge: 760 B N clubhouse Rd. Claremore Oklahoma, 74022. Come pay me a visit. Be a man, or be a coward.

First off, jock is welcoming of all guests to the server as are the rest of us admins

Second, !alias cmd is simply to find out the aliases you have joined the server with.. In no way shape or form does the alias cmd do anything else the 16 would have been the player number of who he was checking

Third, if you were not wanted on the server you would have been warned out or outright banned not ddosed

I would suggest checking with your Isp or maybe restarting your router because FH is a server who welcomes all guests, and the only reason you would be warned out of the server, kicked or banned would be because you do not follow the server rules or because of use of hacks.

We do not ddos players here.

Jock is a school teacher, he doesnt have the time or temperment to do something as useless as DDoS some random user for no reason.

I checked the banlist, no actions were taken against you on the 22nd, 23rd, or 24th.

Fix your internet, dont blame us.

Also, your modem tracks all incoming and outgoing communications. If someone was REALLY DDoS'ing you, the packets would have been tracked. If someone IS using a botnet to disrupt your internet, call your ISP and tell them to block the communication and to change your IP address.

"I'm going to issue him a challenge: 760 B N clubhouse Rd. Claremore Oklahoma, 74022. Come pay me a visit. Be a man, or be a coward."
This gives me reason to believe that you might have only yourself to blame for a security breach. Do you understand the damage someone can do if they have your name, address, and IP address? I would suggest not floating your personal information around on the internet.

Uncle, sorry you're experiencing spotty internet service. What you described in the server:
Today (November 24th), I joined the same server, played for a bit, killed some folks, and it didn't take long before I saw in chat from |FH|Jock Ych "!alias 16". This time though, it was followed by a random player saying "XD LATA!" and |FH|Jock Ych saying "Right again. ;)"

I was able to track in our server logs:
Code: [Select]
|FH|Jock Ych!list
|FH|Jock Ych!alias 16
Fireboy^UXD LATA
16:Fireboy EXE_DISCONNECTED
|FH|Jock Ych^Uright again lol
|FH|Jock Ych^U:)
map_rotate...

jmax^Unotice me Jock
|FH|Jock Ych^Uhi max
|FH|Jock Ych!list
:)))))))))^U:)
|FH|Jock Ych!alias 19
14:UncleBoozy EXE_TIMEDOUT

I scrolled further up in the log to find your original connection to the server:
Code: [Select]
Client 407 connecting with 100 challenge ping from 162.*.*.152:28960
Going from CS_FREE to CS_CONNECTED for  (num 14 guid "bdac1e8")

Note that the player Fireboy has a number 16 next to his name when he disconnects (that was his slot for that session). Your connection placed you in slot 14. Jock wasn't even looking at you when this happened. You're not being targeted by anyone here, I promise you that.

Well, I guess since this was an accusation toward me, I should reply:

All of the comments from my fellow clanmates are 100% true.

Hope you get it sorted out Uncle.
