Some of you may know this, some of you might not, but I play a lot of games (including Windows games) in a native Linux environment or with the help of WINE (windows compatibility layer, Wine Is Not an Emulator). Valve seems to be one of the bigger players in supporting Linux, especially with SteamOS. That's more good news for me :D. And, to be honest if Windows 10 is going to be what I think it is, a "rolling release" where you install it and then constantly upgrade, I'll pass. My Arch Linux does the exact same thing, but a million times better. Also, I can compile/find/write my software for free. Legally free. Right down the heart of any operating system, the kernel. I just compiled my own kernel yesterday to try it out. In theory I could strip everything I wont need and be left with a hardware exact kernel, specific to my machine. The sheer ammount of customizations I can apply have allowed my laptop to live as long as it has. Every performance killing udate, I apply another workaround hehe. Its awesome, and a lot of fun.

But what I'm wondering is this: Do you folks think that gaming on Linux will be the next best thing? Do you even give a damn? Are Macs even relevant for gaming these days (Mac is simillar to Linux)? In case you can't tell, I think Linux as a gaming platform is totally awesome and might be a real thing some day. Let me know what you guys think :D

i run Kali Linux on my XPS. i have not tried gaming yet but i do think Linux is an awesome os.

I don't game a lot, in fact I only play COD, I have tried KUbuntu, Ubuntu, Mint, Kali, Debian to name a few and not sure if the Gaming community by its self will be real enthusiastic about porting it or any name brand game to Linux just not a large audience and money to be made.

Market share is a huge issue, yes. I have no experience with economics so I wont say anyhting about making money from supporting Linux. However, a lot of Linux games aren't huge AAA titles anyways. If you want to play Battlefield, Blops 3, Simulators, Racing games, etc. forget about Linux. Even though I love my Arch system to death, I can't see EA and the likes bothering with my treasured OS.

With that said, Valve has bothered with Linux, for which I am forever grateful. CS:GO anyone?
