Web hosting assistance

I have setup Server 2012 standard, IIS8 and a picture hosting site, it all looks great within my network I can use the IP or domain name, can telnet into it, but outside all my mother sees is the IIS8 webpage screen.

any idea's on what I setup wrong or not at all

I've only worked with Apache and am not familiar with IIS, so my guesses are simply that.

When I connect I'm only loading resources for that landing page, not seeing any errors. What should we be seeing from the root ?

What folder did you set up for the DocumentRoot (I believe IIS term is IIS Web Site Home Directory)?
What are the access flags set to for remote access?
